According to the Internal Regulations of the Valladolid Youth Symphony Orchestra, access is opened to all music students between the ages of 13 and 32, always for vacancies in the symphony specialties offered.
Our next call will take place in September 2022, for all symphonic specialties. Those interested in joining the orchestra, for the 2021-22 academic year, can send their personal data to jcovalladolid@hotmail.com (see requirements below) for registration. Once validated, they will be called by the Management Board at the date that corresponds.

WHAT ARE THEY?
The access test to the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Valladolid (JOSVa are a simple procedure that aims to make the aspirant known and be able to place him in the stand and number most appropriate to his level and learning possibilities.
WHO FORMS THE TRIBUNAL?
The tribunal will be composed of the conductor of the JOSVa, a representative of the intended section and a representative of the Management Board.
WHAT DOES IT CONSIST OF?
The access test consists of a simple interview of 8-10 minutes, where the applicant must:
- a) To perform a work of free choice that does not exceed 5 minutes in length (in the case of works with several movements, it will be understood as one of them). Without piano accompaniment.
- b) Reading at first sight a simple exercise proposed by the tribunal.
- c) To answer some personal questions about their interests, career, etc.
WHEN AND WHERE DO THEY TAKE PLACE?
The access tests take place in September, at the beginning of each new school year, in the civic center of the City Council of Valladolid “Bailarín Vicente Escudero” (c/ Travesía de Verbena s/n – click here to see the map).
WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS FOR JOINING AND STAYING?
Access to the JOSVa is open, universal and free for young people between the ages of 13 and 32 who are studying or have the knowledge of a symphonic instrument.
The JOSVa rehearses for concentrations of one weekend a month (Saturday afternoon / Sunday morning) to facilitate mobility for those who are from outside the province of VALLADOLID, noting that there are no supplements or diets subsidized transport.
HOW MANY PLACES AND FOR WHAT INSTRUMENTS ARE THERE?
In addition to the Titular category (indicated above), you can access as a Substitute to fill any gaps during the course or complete the orchestra in the most important performances, in any of the other instruments.

The Organization of the JOSVa will answer the applicant with the turn and hour in which he has been called. This can be flexible to adapt to the possibilities of the applicant.
DO I NEED TO SUBMIT ANY ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTATION?
Our philosophy is that everyone has the right to enjoy and learn from music, and just as someone with natural skills can prove to be a better performer than another in a higher course, no additional documentation is required. However, additional documentation will be accepted, either by e-mail or in the same proof of CVs or letters of recommendation, without being obligatory.
WHAT RIGHTS DO I HAVE AS A MEMBER OF THE JOSVa?
The acceptance in the grouping, through the access tests, automatically converts the applicant into a full member with the following rights:
– Voice and vote in general assemblies.
– Participation in all rehearsals and concerts of the grouping.
– Participation in excursions and organized trips.
– To receive an official certificate exchangeable for credits of free choice in Public Universities (according to Schools).
– To receive a certificate of belonging to the grouping to present as proof of academic and/or working hours.
– To receive an official certificate that guarantees membership of the JOSVa to include in the curriculum vitae or present in Conservatories, Academies, professional orchestras, etc., exchangeable on some occasions for the subject of the orchestra.
– Preferential access to the Valladolid Philharmonic Orchestra, when a vacancy is announced, and under the conditions stipulated by the orchestra.
WHEN ARE THE RESULTS OF THE ACCESS TEST KNOWN?
The results will be published on the JOSVa website the day after the last of the dates of the same admission exam, and the decision will be unappealable.
WILL IT COST ME SOMETHING?
No. Access tests and membership of the JOSVa are free and voluntary, as well as participation in the activities developed and the material (scores, forms, documentation, etc.).
WHAT PROJECTS ARE ADDRESSED EACH SEASON?
The orchestra has a very board agenda, but the work program for each season focuses on three main activities as a rule.
1st) Christmas Program, which takes place in two or more spaces in our community and autonomous and always performs in the Auditorium Miguel Delibes Valladolid. . It is broadcast by RTV Castilla y León and for the benefit of Africa.
2nd) Musical Tour and Trip to different destinations of the national or international geography, during 3 or 4 days in the months of April or May of every year.
3rd) Spring Program, which takes place in two or more spaces in our autonomous community and, always, in the Miguel Delibes Auditorium. It is broadcast by RTV Castilla y León and for the benefit of Caritas.
